Chapter three follows the travels of a turtle.  The turtle struggle to get across the road and nearly gets hit by a car and then a truck.  The car barely misses the turtle, but the truck nicks the turtle and sends him on his back into a ditch.  The turtle though struggles on managing to turn itself over to continue its journey.
  85. I think the turtle will represent the life of the Oklahoman farmer in that they struggled severly with what offered them, but they managed to survive to try another day.
